Christmas Presents

Christmas was very productive this past last year. There were more random people than family members this time, always an interesting get together. There were some eventful and fun card playing shenanigans, and some rather awkward random people sitting on couches and talking on their cell phones. Anywho, I got a bunch of really neat things and a lot of stuff to crochet and craft with. I'm excited to get to try everything out!! Mod podge parties galore here I come! I won this giveaway contest online for The Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book which came in a few days after Christmas. Totally going to ruin my diet, but it sounds so scrumptious. Maybe I'll start baking and throwing in freebie goodies for my Mary Kay customers?

The other book, Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet, was a present from my teacher that I've helped TA for the last four years. Totally awesome lady, it's a shame that she retired this year but traveling around sounds like so much fun! There's some seriously cute crochet animals in there...pardon the pun. I can't decide which of the animals to do first!!! I'll probably try the Valentine's Bears first since that holiday is coming up. Here are some pictures of a few of the animal patterns for your enjoyment, for ease of page loading and less spam I'll only show the first picture here on the home page and you can click here to see the full post with all of them :)

Ornament Momentos

Better late than never right? I guess I should start off with a Happy New Years!! Here's to a better year and finally finding out if the Mayan's are right. So, while I was distracted with reorganizing and redoing my house post finals and the christmas shindigs, I managed to find some really awesome craft ideas that I want to try out. Only caveat is that half of them are christmas ideas haha, but that's okay! We can always save them for this year...possibly. Anyways, here's a sneak peak:

I like making my own christmas ornaments. I normally buy my own clear ornaments from Michael's, grab some acrylic paint, squirt, swirl, and heat to dry in an oven. I probably have a picture from some that I made my freshman year of college around here somewhere. I saw this momento ornament idea online at from glitter to gumdrops and thought it was super cute! Mine didn't come out as glamorous as Christy's one looks on her blog but it was fun to play with. I cut up an old Lumberjack newspaper I had lying around (ironically it was a science article written by my friend Rob after I stopped and looked at it) and used the scissors to curl the paper (like you would when curling ribbon for presents). Next time I would definitely use a pen or pencil - they came out super curly, roundish and clung together instead of being more spiral shaped and loose. I like her charm idea, but all I had near me was some twine and that frilly paper stuff so I tried to use that to tie a bow. Little bit of a shake to get the words to show up better around the glass and walah!

All in all it would definitely make a great present for newlyweds, expecting parents, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries or any other day you want to commemorate using invitations or other notices from events. You can hang them up as decorations either in a room or on the tree during December.

The Light at the End of the Tunnel....

Last final of my undergrad adventure is tomorrow morning at 8AM. Then...freedom! Finally will find the time to tinker and create all the neat cool stuff I've been finding on the web and on other awesome blogs that have been shared. Totally can't wait!

I've sold quite a bunch of stuff over the semester too, so I'm a lot more motivated now that I can fit more time into making things. I'll need to re-update my for sale section now unfortunately though :( Work in progress still but chugging along nicely!

Come one, come all!

Hello and welcome! After a few family emergencies over the span of this summer I decided to branch out and try to do some things to help my mom out with tuition and general expenses. This, along with selling Mary Kay, was one of my great ideas! Currently I have cupcakes, animals, and flowers made and ready to go. The cupcakes and animals make great toys and can be scented. The flowers can be made into hair clips, headbands or pins.

I'm working on finishing up a few of my current projects and have a large list of wonderful things I want to make that you can see in the photo albums on my facebook page! For those of you without a facebook, I will put up pictures of items that I finish on the "For Sale" page located under the header image. I hope you like what you see! Feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think! If there's something you'd like to see me make, leave me a suggestion and I'll see what I can do!
