Leslie Silva. I live in Arcata, California and am originally from the Bay Area. I am a recent graduate from HSU (BS in Zoology, Minors in Chemistry and American Sign Language & Special Populations) and plan on applying to Veterinary School in the next coming year. Wish me luck!
So, this blog?
Crochet Confections features lots of neat crochet inspired pieces that I have found around the web. But I do want to indulge in my barely existent artsy side as well, so I plan on posting various different craft project how-tos, decorating ideas, and other neat stuff for people to take a look at and maybe create themselves! Originally I was making crochet cupcakes to sell that many people were finding totally cute, and when I asked for name suggestions for my facebook page, Crochet Confections ended up being a major hit, both food and decorative pieces-wise.Why did you encounter on this crochet journey?
Over the summer I had a few emergencies with family members in the hospital multiple times. I thought I would try and help out my mom with the expenses of college tuition and general every day needs/bills. I ended up selling Mary Kay and trying to sell some of the hand made crochet things I was making. I got tired of making scarves, although fun, can get a little tedious over the years lol. So I looked around for different patterns for hats, animals, and whatever fun stuff I could get my hands on. What I can make from both of these prospects are going towards my grad school funds for applications, GREs, and tuition raising. How did you get started?
I first learned how to crochet back in school when I was about 15 and attending Notre Dame. We used to make scarves for the local runaway teen shelter for Christmas and the winter months. I think my teachers got a little annoyed that I would crochet during lectures while still paying attention haha. Why did you start writing a blog?
I haven't blogged in a -really- long time, since the time of the livejournal hay-days back in my teens. I find it quite fun, relaxing and entertaining! Now that my undergrad days are behind me I think it would be good to start blogging again. Plus it will keep me motivated to continue searching for new tutorials and ideas around the web :)Where are you finding all these cool things you post about?
Google searches, magazines, online newsletters, websites, and other blogs that I enjoy reading. There's lots of awesome goodies lurking around the interwebs, you're bound to run into something great if you take some time to search :)Can I send you emails with questions or about promoting my products/services/blogs?
Sure! Give it a shot. If I get some good questions I'll answer them on the FAQ. I'll try my best to get back to everyone regardless though! Of course that also helps best when you get all your friends, and their friends, to come like my page so that they will see it :)
